I didn’t know that …

… I can get an Inter-Library Loan!

Interlibrary loans available from TAFE NSW Libraries

No matter what you’re studying at TAFE NSW, it’s great to know that you can get a range of items you need. If your current library does not have an item you need you can ask your friendly librarian for an Inter-Library Loan.

An Inter-Library Loan is a loan from another library, posted to the library where you are studying. It is a free service, and the item must be directly related to what your are studying. There are a number of ways to request an inter-library loan:

  1. Ask your librarian in person
  2. Ask your librarian over the phone
  3. Online via the Ask a Librarian Form (Found on the TAFE catalogue and on each LibGuide)

Once the item has arrived you will receive a call to let you know you can pick it up.

Another great service you’ll receive as a student at TAFE NSW.

Libraries at a glance

Have you ever wondered what library staff do in between helping you?

This is a snapshot of the services, resources and facilities we provided in a year to Hunter & Central Coast students and staff, not including all of the events we host! Did you know that we often trial and select new online resources (not just what’s on the shelf), maintain the website, and our subject librarians create your LibGuides?

You can find current details about these library services and more at any time here: https://huntertafe.libguides.com/library-locations/about_us

I didn’t know that…

…I could get help with referencing my assignment!

You can:

  • Book A Librarian for help and support in referencing your assignments.  Our librarians can help answer questions that you have about referencing. Drop in, email or phone your Local TAFE Library to book a time in advance.
  • Visit our library website for information, guides and resources on Referencing styles including APA and Harvard.
  • Login to Studiosity, an online tutoring service available to TAFE NSW students from Sunday to Friday from 3pm – late. For more information, see our blog post from earlier this year.

Referencing Quick Tips:

  • Always check with your teacher what referencing style to use
  • As soon as you begin your research start recording the bibliographic details of the sources of information you use – author, title, date of publication, publisher, website address
  • Be consistent with your referencing style throughout your assignment
  • If unsure Ask a Librarian!
