December 3 is International Day of People with Disability. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions. The theme this year is ‘Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality’. Join in on the IDPwD events around NSW!
Looking for something closer to home? Newcastle’s Grain Silos Shine a Light each year to mark this important date.
Accessible Arts, the peak organisation for Arts and Disability in NSW, works with cultural organisation Octapod on advocacy, capacity building and removing barriers to accessing the arts in Greater Newcastle. Dr Riona Tindal, Accessible Arts Deaf Arts Coordinator, will be based at Octapod throughout 2019 to address the arts and cultural needs of people with disability in the region.
We also provide a Disability Resources LibGuide with services, support and information available for TAFE NSW students and staff.
If you are completing your course, don’t forget to return all of your library loans and clear any overdue fees before you go. This will ensure that you get your course results.
If you are continuing your studies in 2019, why not relax with a good book from the library or renew your current loans? Check TAFEcat for some great fiction, biographies, magazines or DVDs to borrow until the start of term 1 2019. You will need to be enrolled, if not, pick up a Continuing Student form from the library to be signed by one of your teachers.
