Sounds a bit phishy to me

Phishing

Received an offer in your email that sounds too good to be true?

The bank has suddenly lost your details and wants you to log in to their website?

Sounds like you are being targeted by phishers – scammers who are trying to trick you into providing personal information such as your bank account numbers, passwords and credit card numbers.

Be aware some phishing scams are easy to spot – others can look like the real deal! So check out the Australian Competion & Consumer Commission (ACCC) Website “Scamwatch” with useful tips on:

  • How to detect a phishing scam
  • How to report a scam to the ACCC – you might help others and the scam can be stopped
  • What to do if you have been scammed
  • Alerts on current scams that are operating in Australia

Also, remember to take a look at our Digital Citizenship LibGuide which includes information and resources on Cyber Safety.

So stay safe on line and don’t get hooked by a phishing scam!
