Do you need referencing help?

The APA and Harvard referencing guides produced by Hunter TAFE Libraries have been updated and are available here: http://huntertafe.libguides.com/bibliographies. There is a brief and an in-depth guide available for both referencing systems.

Our tips to help you improve your referencing (and your marks!):

1. Before you start an assignment, always check which referencing style is required with your teacher. Some Hunter TAFE faculties produce their own referencing guides.

2. Start keeping details of everything you read from the moment you start your research. Look at the examples in the referencing guides to find out what information you need for different types of resources like websites, journal articles and videos.

3. The Research Help LibGuide has links to Free Citation Tools that may be useful.

4. The TAFENSW Library Catalogue is a good source of accurate referencing information for library items. You can send this information to MS Office or your email, ask us how!

5. Some of our eResouces & Databases also allow you to export referencing information in the APA and Harvard styles. Look out for Email, Save or Cite options.

6. Edit your in-text referencing and bibliographies carefully and make sure you are consistent with capitalisation, abbreviations, punctuation and use of italics. Check each reference against an example in the guide.
